Chip Seal

Chip seal is a cost-effective surface treatment that extends pavement life significantly. We have extensive experience with PMCRS-2H oil application on county and federal road contracts, including multi-mile projects on remote road networks.

Our crews handle pre-sweeping, oil application, chip spreading, rolling, and fog seal. We coordinate oil truck dispatch, chip delivery, and aggregate spreading in sequence to maximize daily production.

Excavation

Vegetation clearing, mechanical mastication, and brushwork using our FAE masticator head. Our owner holds a Licensed Timber Operator credential. Our crew is experienced with chainsaw and pole saw clearing on road right-of-ways — a capability most paving contractors cannot self-perform.

We have completed large-scale mastication and clearing across extensive federal road networks, including post-fire road stabilization and recovery scopes.

About Macauley

Macauley Construction Inc. was founded in 1999 by Rich Macauley and has been serving Northern California for over 25 years. Incorporated in 2017, we operate as a family-owned California contractor based in El Dorado County.

We carry a full-time field crew with multiple foremen, operators, and truck drivers capable of handling any scope our clients require. All equipment is company-owned. We do not rely on major subcontractors for core work — when you hire us, you get us.

Our work spans a wide range: county road maintenance, federal road contracts, CalFIRE and state agency projects, environmental restoration, utility district work, and private commercial and residential projects. We are fully DIR-registered and prevailing wage compliant for public works, and have completed Davis-Bacon federal contracts.

We are known for being direct, communicative, and dependable. Our project managers maintain ongoing contact with agency representatives and our foremen are experienced enough to run jobs without constant supervision.
